Heartbreak: Mark Wright has revealed he broke down after Lauren Goodger aborted their baby
Lauren Goodger stunned fans last week when she revealed she had aborted Mark Wright’s baby.
And now The Only Way Is Essex star has told of his heartbreak over the pair’s difficult decision, admitting he ‘broke down’ after Lauren had the termination.
Mark, 24, said he had sobbed ‘That could have been my little David Beckham’, after he and Lauren made the ‘sad and personal’ decision.
He told OK! magazine: ‘It was such an upsetting time. I hate the idea of abortions, that’s why it only happened once in ten years. I was more careful.
‘It was very early days. It was a little bunch of cells but that still could’ve been my child. I broke down. That could’ve been my little David Beckham and, you never know, I might never get a chance to have that again.’
Mark also hit out at his former fiancée Lauren over her allegations that he had made up a story about her cheating on him and used it as the reason for their split.
He said: ‘She’s sick in the head to think I’m sick in the head to make up a story like that.
‘I was in Marbella and got a call from a pal to say Lauren was all over a fella, snogging a guy. What relationship after 10 years doesn’t end with abusive texts when you’ve got the hump?’
Lauren last week revealed that she had an abortion at the age of 20 after she and Mark decided they weren’t ready to become parents.
She said: ‘I did think I was pregnant. I’m not on the Pill and haven’t been for a little while, just because of my cells, not because I was planning a baby and thank God we didn’t.

‘I was late
once and I think it was the stress of what was going on. I’ve been
pregnant before with his baby but I chose not to have it. I was only 20.
No one knows except my close family.’
Asked why she hadn’t continued with the pregnancy, Lauren told OK! magazine: ‘I was still living with my mum, our
relationship was so volatile and we weren’t ready for a baby. I’d be
left in the flat and he’d go off with other girls and we said, “Let’s
wait till we’re more settled”.
And Mark said there is no chance he and
Lauren would be rekindling their relationship this time, after she made
the abortion public knowledge.

He said: ‘I can never go back to her now. I had been questioning whether I’ve done the right thing, but after that interview? That is it.’
Mark added that he has been on ‘breaking edge’ since Lauren’s interview last week, adding: ‘My friends don’t leave me in my house on my own.’
Lauren took to her Twitter page yesterday to express her distress over Mark’s comments, telling fans: ‘Actually haven’t cried like this in a while…’
But the 25-year-old star was cheered up with a pyjama party with her fellow TOWIE girls at Sam Faiers’ house last night.
